Soňa Uriková (born 1988), a versatile author, studied screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She has been involved in the literary project Medziriadky for many years, leads creative writing workshops, serves as a jury member for literary competitions, and contributes to radio, magazines, and book anthologies. She made her debut in 2015 with Živé ploty (Living Hedges), a collection of short stories. Dôvod na radosť (Reason for Joy) is her second short story collection, for which she was awarded the Slovak literary prize Anasoft Litera in 2023.
