Aliz Farkas is currently completing a PhD in Art History. Holding an MA in Painting (2022), and an MA in Art History (2024) their practice is grounded in both artistic and academic contexts.
Their artistic practice explores the layers of individual embodiment and collective experience, addressing somatic questions through a multiplicity of artistic techniques. Working across installation, textile-related approaches, painting, and photography, they often develop collaborative projects.
Focusing on the possibilities of representation, with a recent interest in the cultural and historical frameworks of nonbinary trans theory, their work situates itself between artistic practice and academic methodologies.
Their work has been presented in institutional and independent contexts internationally, including OFF-Biennále (HU), Weltkulturerbe Völklinger Hütte (DE), Rotor Contemporary (AT), Eriac (DE), and Beyond Bare Life (HU), among others.
They are a member of Bura Gallery (Budapest) and the Studio of Young Artists’ Association in Budapest, have participated in residencies at Cité internationale des arts (Paris), and has been a guest lecturer at HBK Saarbrücken.
